Taking a picture to canvas is a step by step process that usually begins with a digital artist receiving an order in his or her e-mail. Once they have the image to work with, and specific instructions from their client, the editing begins. If the photo is old, it may need to be restored which can take a considerable amount of time. Sometimes clients want something removed from the background or they want a single element taken out of one photo and transposed onto another. It's really amazing what digital editing software makes possible these days. With the right artist and the right software, nearly anything is possible and we are limited only by the scope of our imaginations. One the editing is completed, the proper size and type of canvas must be selected and stretched. After this has been done, the printing of the picture to canvas is ready to begin! A special printer is used that contains special inks meant to be used with treated canvas. Canvas is almost always treated by artists before being used, even with oil and acrylic based paints. This is because paint and ink actually cause the canvas to begin deteriorating sooner than it otherwise would. Once the canvas has been treated, it's loaded into the special printer and the magic that began in the editing room begins its final stages of completion. After the photo has been printed and it has dried, it is ready to be framed. Once framed, you have a stunning piece of art that will last generations.
"We love the gift our children had made for our 40 th anniversary. It looks like a real oil painting and the most amazing thing is it was created from several photos and combined into one big edited photo ready for printing it onto canvas. We are in different parts of the country and our children took individual pictures and with the great help of the company we now have all our loved ones in one picture. We framed it and it is now hanging in our living room.
