Stretched canvas has an enormous amount of applicability in today's world. Canvas has been used by the human race for literal eons as it's sturdy, durable and incredibly versatile. Canvas can be used for everything from boat sails to clothing! Canvas is made from either cotton or linen and comes in a huge range of sizes. Let's take a look at some of the uses of stretched canvas that people have come up with over the years.
The first thing that comes to mind for most people is, of course, paintings. We are all well familiar with the famous works by Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso and many others that were done on stretched canvas. Today's artists use linen and cotton in the same way, painting or printing beautiful works of art across canvas for others to enjoy. Yet, canvas has other uses as well. Did you know, for example, that some of the lightest, swiftest canoes are made from stretched canvas and bamboo? Today canvas is becoming more and more popular in the making of trampolines, as well. Canvas is still used for sails on sailboats and of course, most of us are familiar with canvas shoes. Canvas is one of those fabrics that will never lose its favour in the eyes of man. Thanks to it's durability, versatility and strength, it can be used for many, completely unrelated things. Like the wheel, the concept of canvas is one that has stood the test of time and been a staple in human production for centuries.
We loved the Pop Art print from our daughter's photo. She has it in her room now and we are planning a second one for our other daughter. Neta W, United Kingdom
